Our History |
|
Wolf Mountain Vineyards was established in 1999,
with the preparation of our 25 acre estate for grape growing. In 2000, the
vines were planted by hand and the winery construction began. In spring of
2001 we began operating our 7500 square foot gravity flow winery . Our
first vintage of about 1000 cases was produced that
fall, using locally grown fruit. We opened to the public in early spring
of 2003.Our first
harvest at Wolf Mountain was the fall of 2002, with our wine production
reaching 2000 cases. |

The Vineyards |
|
Our vineyard is situated on top of Wolf Mountain
at an 1800 foot elevation.
The sloping hillside vineyards are planted in small lots to explore the
impact of soil, climate and environment. We grow Cabernet Sauvignon,
Syrah, Mourvedre and Touriga Nacional, which we blend together to produce
our award-winning field blend red wine Instinct. Our estate reserve
Claret, which is a Cabernet and Mourvedre blend, and our unique Sunset Dry
Rose are also estate grown. Our southwest facing vineyard slopes are more
conducive for growing red wine grapes. We contract our white wine grape
varieties out to Dahlonega area growers. Come by the tasting room to enjoy
any of our seven estate blended wines. |

About Our Wines |
|
The Boegner Family is proud to release our award
winning limited bottling of handcrafted wines. Our wines are produced from
100% Georgia-grown grapes, hand-picked at the 1,800-foot elevations of the
Dahlonega Plateau. Labor-intensive protocols focus on a less invasive use
of gravity, hand-punching the caps during red fermentations, whole-cluster
pressing white varietals and minimizing the need for filtration. Our wines
are aged in French oak barrels in the Old World ambiance of our Cask Room.
The winemaking philosophy is focused on blending varietals to create new
and unique wines. By limiting our production to seven wines, we ensure
that each wine is given the individual attention it requires. Our goal is
to achieve the highest quality in locally-produced wines for your
enjoyment. |
